CakeResume, a Taiwan-based job platform that connects employers with job seekers, has announced that it has raised $5 million in fresh funding. The new funding, which was a Series B round, was led by Japanese investor Global Brain with participation from U.S. investor A.Capital Ventures and returning investors WI Harper Group and Cherubic Ventures.
CakeResume was founded in 2014 as a resume-matching platform to help employers find the right talent. The platform has since then expanded to include job postings, allowing job-seekers to find open positions that best match their skills and experience. The platform has a Singapore-based English language version as well as a Japanese version.
CakeResume CEO and co-founder Huang Cheng-Te said that the new funding would be used to expand its presence in Asia, specifically in Japan, South Korea, and India. He added that the company planned to launch new services such as video interviewing, personal branding tools, and job-matching services for employers.
According to the company, its total funding to date is $6.8 million. In addition to the funding, the company has also appointed Sam Lee, a partner at Global Brain, to its board.
The startup already has over 800,000 registered employers and more than 10 million job seekers, with recent sign-ups in Southeast Asia, the U.S, and China.
With the new funding and the launch of new services, CakeResume is hoping to become the premier jobs platform in Asia. With its focus on connecting employers to the right job seekers, the company is in an ideal position to tap into the growing job market across the region.
