Genshin Impact player’s playtime has become increasingly troubled after reports of a newly-discovered hack that is “permanently bricking” player worlds. As a popular open world game, Genshin Impact has seen great success since its launch last year. But now, there’s a major issue to contend with: this new hack has the capability of completely nullifying a player’s play experience.
It is believed that the hack was created by a hacker who wishes to remain anonymous. Early reports indicate that it is a malicious program that replaces the entire game data folder of the affected players with a file named “GENS.BIN.” Once the hack has been implemented, Genshin Impact will irrevocably cease to work, regardless of any attempts to reinstall or reset the game.
Genshin Impact developer miHoYo is actively working to identify and prevent any further hacks, but by now, numerous players have been affected. Many of these unsuspecting players have lost valuable resources, time and progress as a result of the hack.
At the moment, the only defence available to players is being extra vigilant and avoiding any suspicious emails, links and/or websites. Genshin Impact players should also be aware of the dangers posed by potential third-party applications. Anything that is not from the official App Store or Google Play Store should be treated with extreme caution.
While it remains to be seen how miHoYo plans to handle this situation, affected players should contact miHoYo Customer Support for assistance. miHoYo may be able to restore lost data and prevent the spread of the hack, while helping players to reclaim their accounts and return to the game in no time.
Until the hack is completely eliminated, Genshin Impact players need to be on alert for any changes to their game.
