In today’s tech-driven society, it seems that even fast-food is not immune to tech malfunctions. McDonald’s recently reported a problem with their in-store ice cream machines, leaving many customers unable to enjoy their favorite soft-serve treats.
Luckily, the technological repair experts at iFixit are attempting to solve the problem. Known for providing DIY advice and repair kits to some of the world’s most popular electronic devices, the company has now taken on the task of fixing McDonald’s broken ice cream machines.
The issue at hand has to do with the machines containing complicated and outdated components. Because these components are nearly impossible to find or replace, many of the machines are completely out of commission.
In order to get the machines up and running again, iFixit has come up with a clever solution. The company is currently producing six different kits designed to repair the exact components in the McDonald’s machines. Each kit includes everything needed to get the machines up and running again, making it easier for McDonald’s to get the machines back in action.
The kits have already been tested with success in some locations, and they are expected to be fully rolled out nationwide in the upcoming weeks. Customers around the country are eagerly waiting to have their favorite ice cream treat as soon as the repair kits become available.
McDonald’s has yet to comment on the issue or the iFixit repair kits, but some customers aren’t too thrilled. One customer pointed out that the machines have been down for months and that they shouldn’t have to pay for something McDonald’s should have taken care of in the first place.
Only time will tell if McDonald’s and iFixit can get the machines up and running again. Until that happens, it looks like many McDonald’s customers around the country will have to find another way to satisfy their ice cream cravings.
