Tuesday’s top tech news: An Apple (a) day

The tech world never stops, and this Tuesday was no exception. For those of us keeping track, this Tuesday’s top tech news certainly revolved around Apple, but there was plenty of other tech news to go around, too. Here is a brief relief of the Tuesday’s top tech news relating to Apple.

The biggest news of the day came from Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference (WWDC). At the event, the company announced several new features, updates and products. Among some of the more exciting announcements were Apple’s new 3D maps, their new health tracking software, and their redesigned MacBook Pros. The general consensus from reviewers and tech press seems to be very positive about all the updates.

In other Apple news, the company has been having trouble in China. Recently, Chinese authorities have been targeting companies like Apple for questionable tax laws. Eventually Apple agreed to pay a settlement of $19.25 billion after being accused of transferring profits to its Irish subsidiaries to reduce taxes.

Moving away from Apple, there was some big news in the mobile world this week. Google announced its newest mobile operating system, the Android 8.0 Oreo. As expected, the update will bring with it a plethora of new features, including better battery management, picture-in-picture multitasking, and more security safeguards.

Wrapping up the tech news of the day, a new report has found that more people now prefer surfing the web on their mobile devices, rather than a desktop computer. This trend is largely attributed to the fact that mobile devices are are just more convenient and easier to use than traditional PCs.
