Samsung may put its free TV Plus streaming app into other manufacturers’ TVs

Samsung has been nothing short of ambitious when it comes to its streaming services, offering subscriptions to its own platforms and even purchasing media conglomerates such as Turner and MGM. The recently-launched Samsung TV Plus is the latest example of the company’s attempts to build out its streaming empire. Recently, there have been reports that the electronics giant may be looking to push its free entertainment app further by making it available in smart televisions manufactured by its competitors.

The move would allow Samsung to further its presence in the streaming market while also allowing consumers to experience the services first-hand. Televisions manufactured by competitors such as LG, Sony and Vizio that support Samsung TV Plus would give users access to free movies, shows and news programming. Additionally, it would put Samsung in direct competition with the likes of Netflix and Hulu, as it is aiming to become a direct streaming provider.

Samsung TV Plus would provide a welcome alternative to the current offerings on the market, as it does not require users to have a subscription, like many of the other streaming services. It also provides access to some big name media from the likes of Warner Brothers, Sony Pictures and Tegna, among others.

The only downside for Samsung is that its competitors are likely to be less-than-thrilled about having their own TVs become competitors for the Samsung TV Plus platform. However, the company may be counting on the fact that the app would bring in more customers and therefore more profits, as it would provide a significantly cheaper alternative to subscription services.

Ultimately, Samsung’s move to put its free entertainment app into its competitors’ TVs could be a smart strategic move. It could gain a larger audience than it originally had and make itself an attractive option for consumers looking for a more budget-friendly way to stream their favorite content.
