Willem Dafoe Joins a Nosferatu Remake for a Second Time

Do you know of the classic horror film, Nosferatu? If so, you’ll likely be happy to hear that a remake of this timeless classic is on the way, and even better, the original film’s star, Willem Dafoe, is set to join the cast once again.

Dafoe first appeared in the original silent 1922 German Expressionist horror film directed by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau. In the film, Dafoe plays the role of Jonathan Harker, a real estate agent who visits a vampire lord at his Transylvanian castle, revealing a plot to unleash a vampire of death and destruction. Dafoe again took on the role when the film was recreated in a steel colorized version, which made its way to theaters in 1992.

Now, nearly 30 years later, Willem Dafoe is set to reprise his role once again in a new adaptation of the classic. This retelling of Nosferatu is being co-written and directed by Hugo Lacroix and Victor Fanucci and will be released in 2022. While a production company has not yet been announced, some believe the remake will be produced by a major Hollywood studio.

The remake is expected to bring Nosferatu back to its roots and stay faithful to the original plot but will feature a few modern updates like CGI technology, 3D and other special effects, while still maintaining its old-school horror flair. Since Dafoe had starred in the 1992 retelling, it seemed only natural for him to join the new version of the iconic film and many are excited for what he will bring to his role this time around.

The remake of Nosferatu is sure to be a thrilling experience for both horror fans and those fans of the original film. Willem Dafoe’s return to the character of Jonathan Harker will undoubtedly make this an even more thrilling ride for fans. Everyone is looking forward to the 2022 release of this much anticipated remake.
