The Last of Us’ Second Season May Be a Two-Parter

With much of the gaming industry still buzzing about The Last of Us Part 2, speculation has already begun about what’s in store for the next installment of the acclaimed PlayStation exclusive. Recent rumors have suggested that The Last of Us’ second season may be a two-parter.

The original The Last of Us was a critically acclaimed apocalyptic adventure, telling the story of Joel and Ellie’s journey to safety. The Last of Us Part 2 further expanded on their journey and introduced some new characters along the way. Its story tackled topics of morality, family and loyalty while also expanding upon the existing world and lore. This left it wide open for a future sequel and the latest rumors point to The Last of Us Part 2’s sequel being a two-parter.

If these rumors are true, then it could mean that the developers are planning for a much larger and longer sequel. The original The Last of Us was around 15 hours long, while The Last of Us Part 2 was more than twice that length, clocking in at over 30 hours. A two-parter would likely mean that the sequel would be even longer, giving the developers plenty of ways to further explore Joel and Ellie’s world. This could also mean that the story of The Last of Us could finally come to an end in a satisfying way.

Other rumors suggest that The Last of Us’ second season may take place in a different setting as well as introducing players to some new characters. This could be a great way to expand on the world that’s already been set up and open up some new possibilities.

For now, it remains to be seen if these rumors prove to be true. But if they are, it could mean a much more expansive sequel and a satisfying conclusion to the story of The Last of Us. We’ll just have to wait and see.
