Instagram’s co-founders introduce a new social app…for news reading

On Wednesday the co-founders of Instagram, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, announced the launch of a new social news reading app called ‘Vesh’. It is set to allow users to easily connect with friends and stay informed about the latest news.

Vesh aims to provide an easy-to-understand news experience for users of all ages and backgrounds. Users are able to follow topics, follow people, and join conversations around stories related to politics, music, fashion, sports and more. The news content is tailored to the user’s interests, so they can stay on top of the stories they care about most. Vesh also provides a personalised news feed, allowing users to easily follow the conversations of their friends and family.

The app also has a simple and intuitive user interface, with a navigation bar on the left side and a content view that is easy to read. The app also offers a variety of tools to help users find new content, such as the Explore tab which provides trending topics for following. Users can also save stories for later, share stories with their friends and discuss stories in a variety of chat rooms available within the app.

The app follows the same ‘open ecosystem’ approach used by Instagram, meaning the content and conversations are free to the general public. This means that users are not limited to just the content provided by news outlets and may encounter stories from everyday people and conversations.

Vesh is currently available only in the US, however, Kevin and Mike hope to roll out to other countries soon. Although this is a new area for the Instagram co-founders, they hope to bring their expertise in user experience, engagement and product development to Vesh and make it a top-tier news reading app.
