It looks like the DC Extended Universe is getting a fresh reboot over with the upcoming release of the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League game. This is an action-adventure game set in the universe of DC Comics. The game has been developed by Rocksteady Studios, the studio behind the hit series Batman Arkham. The game was initially announced back in August of 2020, but the developers have finally revealed the release date and some new trailers along with gameplay.
The game will be released on June 18th, 2021, and is set to be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It’s a single-player game with a four-player co-op option. In regards to the story, there’s still a lot we don’t know, but here’s what we do know. The story will feature a squad of supervillains; Deadshot, Harley Quinn, King Shark and Captain Boomerang. The squad will be tasked with taking down the Justice League, who have become the target of an evil force.
In terms of gameplay, the game will be an action-adventure title with a focus on combat, gadgetry and traversal. Each of the four main characters will have special abilities that can be used to take down their opponents, as well as gadgets and weapons. The game also promises a wide range of actions set pieces, in-game events and destructible environments.
To give fans a better look at what to expect, Rocksteady released a few trailers since the game was first announced. The “Stacked” trailer gave us our first look at the game’s visuals and some of its combat mechanics. Meanwhile, the “Revenge” trailer provided us with a glimpse of the squad’s mission to take down the Justice League, as well as some of the in-game environments.
Overall, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League looks to be an exciting new take on the DC Comics universe. With an intriguing story, top-notch visuals, and a great variety of gameplay mechanics, this promises to be a must-play game with release date set in 2021.
