E3 is ‘full speed ahead,’ even though Ubisoft’s CEO hinted it might not be

E3, one of the biggest gaming events of the year, seems to be addressing the future with a resolute “full speed ahead” despite hints from Ubisoft’s CEO that it might not take place this year. Despite Yves Guillemot’s proposition that digital events could replace its grandstand launch at the end of June, E3 2021 is on for a physical expo – with new guidelines in place.

The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) – which runs E3 – itself has put safety at the top of its agenda, and with the event being hosted at the Los Angeles Convention Center, it will be using the same safety protocols used by Formula E and the Los Angeles Dodgers. This means that while visitors can look forward to a tangible gaming experience, they will also be subject to measures such as social distancing, face masks, and temperature checks.

In addition, the ESA has also announced that E3 2021 will include an “extensive virtual experience for the global gaming community,” with content being made available through Twitch and YouTube, among other global streaming platforms. This has led many to believe that the event will have an online presence even larger than the physical one. A few weeks ahead of the event, both Sony and Nintendo also announced that they will be participating in the virtual side of E3 as well.

With so many safety protocols and digital options in place, it looks like E3 is indeed “full speed ahead” – despite any suggestions that it wouldn’t take place. It has been officially confirmed that the event is on and those attending can look forward to experiencing some of the world’s latest gaming innovations, whether on-site or in the digital world. Even Ubisoft’s CEO has suggested that this could be a really exciting year, potentially bringing a number of new experiences to gamers.

Overall, E3 2021 is all set to be a one of its kind experience, incorporating safety protocols as well as digital platforms in its bid to offer gamers the thrill of discovering new content. It is sure to be an event for the history books, and all participants can look forward to an enjoyable yet safe experience.
