Are you an avid photographer looking for inspiration?
If so, you need to check out the 2022 Photos of the Year from National Geographic!
National Geographic has long been a trusted source of amazing photographs from around the world. Their annual Photo of the Year contest is a global search for the best photography from the final months of the previous calendar year.
This year, the winning entry was taken by Esther Mihály—a photographer from Budapest, Hungary—and it was titled “I Scarcely Dare to Look”. The photo features a young girl shielding her face with her hands, her face subtly illuminated in the background.
The runner-up to the contest was taken by David Guerrero, a photographer from Mexico. His entry, “The Wailing”, featured a man in an isolated temple high in the mountains of Chiapas, Mexico. It was a powerful image of quiet contemplation.
The rest of the top 10 Photos of the Year included entries from photographers all over the world, such as John Stanmeyer (United States), Patricio Dip (Brazil), and Haleemah Najm (Saudi Arabia).
In addition to the top 10 photos, National Geographic also released a number of honorable mentions, representing the broad range of global talent the competition has to offer. There were photographs from across the United States, Syria, U.K., Ukraine, and many other countries.
