William Jackson Harper is an American actor who is best known for his role as Chidi Anagonye in NBC sitcom, The Good Place. Although his character’s decision-making process on the show results in some very unique moments, it’s his experience of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) that has given us some truly remarkable moments with him.
Harper is an avid Marvel fan and found out he was going to be part of the MCU when his family called him to tell the news. He was cast as Mephisto in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, a sequel to Marvel’s 2016 movie, Doctor Strange.
Harper’s work in the MCU has included appearing in cinematic events as well as television shows. At the beginning of his Marvel career, Harper starred in a Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors event, a five-part series that aired on television. He later guest starred in the Freeform show Cloak and Dagger, playing a dark version of his character in The Good Place, named Peter Scarborough.
Harper’s MCU experience expands beyond television and movies. He also took part in Marvel’s interactive media initiative, Where You Hang Your Cape, in which he headed up the show’s official Thor: Ragnarok rewatch. The initiative saw Harper and a handful of other Marvel content creators commenting on the original Thor movie as they watched it.
In addition to his MCU related projects, Harper also produces and hosts his own podcast series, The Good Place: The Podcast, which analyzes the show’s characters, moments, and philosophy.
Harper’s experience in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has brought us some of his most remarkable moments. From his role in Secret Warriors to his appearance in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Harper has certainly made his mark on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
