Excitement is building over reports that Kevin Conroy, best known for his iconic voice-acting performance of Batman in the cult classic ’90s animated series Batman: The Animated Series, will be making one final performance as the Dark Knight for an upcoming video game.
Warner Bros and Rocksteady Studios have announced that the upcoming video game, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, will feature Conroy voicing the caped crusader one last time. Conroy’s decade-long career as the beloved crime-fighting vigilante has seen him become one of the most beloved incarnations of the character. He has appeared in other roles, most notably a brief yet engaging cameo in Supergirl, but his departure from the world of Batman is likely to create a gaping void that will be hard to fill.
The game itself is set in an alternate reality version of the DC Universe, where all of the heroes have been turned into villains. Players will step into the shoes of characters like Harley Quinn, Deadshot and Captain Boomerang as they battle against the corrupted Justice League. In this iteration, a man of steel and a dark knight stand in their way. Conroy reprises his famous role from Batman: The Animated Series as Bruce Wayne, and he reportedly brings a level of gravitas to the role that could only be achieved by a voice artist of his caliber.
It’s been reported that the upcoming game will be released sometime in 2022, with no exact date yet. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC.
In anticipation of the game’s release and for fans of Conroy’s work, it’s safe to say this is one of the most exciting video game projects out there. With Conroy’s last-ever performance as the beloved Batman, it’s sure to be a fitting reward for fans who have been in love with the character and Conroy’s performances since The Animated Series debuted.
