As we all know, technology is constantly progressing and improving, with new releases of popular products coming on the market all the time. Apple is no exception to this trend and has recently released the new iOS 15 operating system for select iPhone models. However, many users have been asking: What about devices that can’t run iOS 16, are they getting new iOS 15 updates?
The answer is, unfortunately, not really. Apple has stated that only iPhones that can run iOS 16 are eligible to receive the new iOS 15 updates. This means that all iPhones that are currently running iOS 15 or older will not be able to upgrade to the new version of the operating system.
However, there are some exceptions to this rule. Apple has said that even some iPhone models running iOS 14 or older will be able to receive the new iOS 15 updates. The list of eligible iPhone models are:
• iPhone 12
• iPhone 11
• iPhone XS
• iPhone XR
• iPhone 8
• iPhone 7
• iPhone 6s
• iPhone SE (1st generation)
• iPhone SE (2nd generation)
Even though these iPhone models are able to receive the iOS 15 updates, they will not have access to all the features and improvements that will come with the new operating system. For instance, features such as second-party authentication and image recognition are only available on iPhones that are running iOS 16.
So, while iPhones that can’t run iOS 16 are getting new iOS 15 updates, they may not be able to enjoy all the features and improvements that will be available on the new operating system. Users of older iPhone models should take care to check if their model is eligible for the new iOS 15 update before upgrading.
