Hellblade: Senua’s Saga is the much-anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed, award-winning game Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. Set in the Viking Age, the game follows a hero named Senua, who must fight an impossible battle against forces of darkness. With the announcement of Hellblade 2: Senua’s Saga, gamers around the world have been eagerly awaiting more information.
Details on Hellblade 2 have been scarce so far, but we do know a few things. The game is slated for release sometime in 2020, and it will be available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game will be a “fully-fledged AAA game” and is said to be about 3 or 4 times the length of its predecessor.
Hellblade 2 promises us a “kaleidoscopic world of Norse mythology and mental health.” We don’t know exactly how these two themes will be weaved together, but we do know that Senua is a highly troubled character, dealing with trauma from her past and experiencing bouts of psychosis. We will likely see Senua fight her inner battles alongside her outer ones. From what we know about the first Hellblade game, these inner conflicts will be an integral part of Senua’s journey.
The other big draw of Hellblade 2 is its graphics. Developers Ninja Theory have announced that the game will boast photorealistic visuals, powered by Unreal Engine 4. We’re not quite sure what that means just yet, but Ninja Theory have certainly captured beautiful visuals with their previous games — and we can only imagine how Spectral Realism will look in action.
These are all the details we have right now on Hellblade 2. With the game coming out in 2020, there’s sure to be plenty of exciting news and announcements in the near future. We’re all looking forward to seeing what Ninja Theory have in store for us with this highly anticipated sequel.
