Netflix has once again established itself as an industry leader, achieving a major streaming success with their Indian original series “Wednesday”. The series, released on March 24th, topped Netflix’s watchlists and has now become their second most popular English language series, with 1.02 billion hours viewed.

The first place spot is held by the British show “The Crown”, with 1.3 billion hours watched.

So what is it that has made “Wednesday” so popular? Perhaps it’s the stories of quirky characters that allow viewers to escape into the fantasy world of Mumbai. Or it could be the captivating elements of suspense, drama, and comedy that keep audiences hooked to the show.

The series is deemed a win not just for Netflix, but also for Indian content creators. It demonstrates the appeal of India’s diverse culture and stories, allowing for a wider audience to discover it globally.

The series follows two estranged brothers, Dhairya and Kapil, who are forced to reunite to save their family from a threatening foe only known as Wednesday. The two must travel through a magical world, filled with dynamic characters, to unlock the clue to Wednesday’s identity and ultimately unravel their enemy’s malicious plan.

“Wednesday” stars Parmeet Sethi, Sumukhi Suresh, Varun Thakur, and Aru Krishansh Verma in lead roles, with special performances by Rohit Saraf and Vijay Raaz. The show is written and developed by Vikram Mehra, directed by Harishap Mehra, while it is produced by Arun Rangachari under his banner DAR Motion Pictures.

Netflix has certainly garnered success with this series, and with its worldwide reach in viewership, it’s clear that “Wednesday” is here to stay.
