The idea has sent shockwaves throughout the tech industry. After all, Musk is one of the most prominent figures in the tech world and is a key part of Twitterâs success.
In the course of the poll, Musk asked: âDo you think I should step down as chairman of Twitterâs board?â This question was answered by more than 3 million users, with 84 percent responding ‘yes’.
This follows a string of controversies that have come to light in recent months. It started with some of Muskâs tweets that contradicted long-term guidelines set by Twitter. As a result, the platform blocked off Musk for a period of time. This attracted criticism from many, even though Twitter eventually stated that Muskâs tweets did not breach any guidelines set by the company.
Even though this seems to be the major catalyst for Musk proposing stepping down from Twitter’s Board, it’s no secret that tensions have been rising for some time.The platform is undergoing rapid changes, with some of these being suggested by Musk himself. This has caused a a great deal of friction between Musk and other board members.
