The Apple Watch is quickly becoming a staple in today’s wearables market, and furthering its appeal, Apple is apparently looking into ways for the device to automatically accessorise with different bands.
A recent patent filing from Apple has revealed that the company is looking into ways for the device to automatically detect what band is attached to it. This would allow the watch to display matching colours and designs when used with different straps, giving customers more ways to show off their style.
The technology appears to be similar to how some Apple Watches already adjust their display colours to match the watch band. But this new patent takes things a step further, as it appears to be able to recognise different accessory types and suggest matching watch bands accordingly.
For example, the watch may be able to detect when it is used at the beach and suggest a waterproof band to go with it. Or it may sense when the user is going out at night and automatically switch to a fancy metal band.
This would make customising the Apple Watch even easier, since users wouldn’t need to manually adjust their watch band every time they wanted to switch up their style. Furthermore, the watch could even recommend bands and other accessories based on the activities that the user is doing, making it more likely that they find the perfect accessory for every occasion.
This is just one of the many features that Apple is said to be working on for the future of the Apple Watch. Other features that have been rumoured to be coming include a blood glucose monitor, sleep tracking, advanced health monitoring, and even facial recognition for unlocking the device.
Of course, there’s no telling when or if these features will ever become a reality. But it’s clear that Apple is continuing to push the boundaries in terms of what the Apple Watch can do, and that’s great news for fans of the device.
