Akira Toriyama’s Sand Land is Jumping Over to Anime

Akira Toriyama, the creator of the legendary manga series Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump, is bringing his beloved fantasy story Sand Land to the world of anime. This adaptation of Toriyama’s popular fantasy novel will be set in a world populated by elves, goblins, and other mythical creatures and will feature a similar art style to his past works.

Sand Land follows the story of the heroic dwarf-knight Ruche, an old-fashioned warrior traversing a harsh desert world. He is joined by Beeba, a mischievous monkey, and other strange creatures on a journey to restore peace to the Sand Land. What makes this story unique is that although there are supernatural elements, it still remains grounded in a realistic and emotional setting.

The anime adaptation will be produced by Shueisha’s animation studio Production I.G, and is slated to air on Japanese television in late 2020. This marks the first animated adaptation of one of Toriyama’s works since the 2003 classic Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might.

The anime will feature music composed by Takeshi Hama and sound effects provided by Tokyo Hatsuon. The characters will be voiced by some of Japan’s top voice actors, such as Hideki Ogihara of Cowboy Bebop fame, Miho Suzuki as Ruche, and Takashi Matsuyama as Beeba.

For fans of Toriyama’s works, this anime adaptation of Sand Land comes as a blessing, as it promises to be an incredibly faithful and entertaining adaptation. Akira Toriyama himself has also expressed his support for the project and stated that he looks forward to seeing it come alive on the small screen.

Do not miss the chance to experience Akira Toriyama’s beloved classic Sand Land in its newly animated form. Sand Land is sure to be a hit with everyone, ranging from new viewers to those who have followed the manga since its original debut.
