In the wake of the global pandemic, remote work has become the norm. To support this new work style, video conferencing tool Zoom has added tons of new features, some which directly compete with Slack, Calendly, Google, and Microsoft.
Zoom’s all-in-one chat platform, called “Zoom Chat,” will direct challenge Slack by providing an integrated team messaging, file sharing, and collaboration tools to create an innovative and efficient working environment. In addition, Zoom is introducing a new task management feature, enabling users to share tasks, prioritize them, and win streaks with their teams. To stay ahead of the competition, Zoom is also introducing “Breakout Rooms,” allowing businesses to break up a large virtual meeting into smaller groups, which is similar to the breakout feature Calendly provides for scheduling.
Another new feature Zoom is set to launch is “Meetings Calendar,” which directly compete with Google and Microsoft. This new feature will allow businesses and individuals to view upcoming meetings in a consistent calendar view. Additionally, it will create automated reminders, set detailed agenda items, and share notes. Finally, Zoom will offer an integration with mobile-first meeting platform “Slack Connect,” allowing Slack and Zoom users to easily join a Zoom meeting from within the Slack platform.
Overall, Zoom is taking their platform to the next level. These new features will undoubtedly help them compete better with the likes of Slack, Calendly, Google, and Microsoft. With a growing user base, Zoom is continuing to make substantial investments in their product, which could revolutionize the world of remote work.
