DC Comics fans were blissfully excited about the possibility of a movie universe within the same vein as Marvel’s, but then the news started rolling out about who was in and who was out of this new universe. Two years after DC’s stand-alone movies started hitting the theaters, it’s time to take a look at who is in and who is out of DC’s Movie Universe, so far.
The heroes in the current DC’s Movie Universe are some of the biggest names in comic book history. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and the Flash are all included in the founding members of the Justice League. In addition, many other heroes of the DC universe have made an appearance in one way or another. Green Lantern, Cyborg, Shazam, and Batgirl have all appeared in some capacity in the movie universe, while there have also been hints at other members joining the team, such as Martian Manhunter and Black Canary.
On the villain side, Batman’s Rogues Gallery is well represented in the movie universe. The Joker, Catwoman, Penguin, Mr. Freeze, and Riddler have all been featured antagonists in either solo or opposite Batfleck. Lex Luthor and the Suicide Squad have also made memorable appearances in the DC’s Movie Universe. In addition, we’ve seen a few other villains form a close alliance with the heroes, like Lex Luthor joining forces with Batman to take down the supervillain team of Doomsday, Darkseid, and Metallo.
But who, you may ask, is not included in DC’s Movie Universe so far? Well, for starters, Black Adam is one of the characters not included. While the character is set to appear in the upcoming Shazam! movie, we have yet to see him in any of the other DC Extended Universe movies. Scarecrow, Ra’s Al Ghul, and Bizarro are also not a part of the universe at this time. Whether or not they will appear in the upcoming movies is yet to be seen.
Overall, the DC’s Movie Universe has made great strides in establishing a robust cinematic universe of beloved comic book characters. Only time will tell what other characters will appear in this ever-expanding universe.
