The Last of Us is an iconic 2013 PlayStation 3 (PS3) and PlayStation 4 (PS4) game, developed by Naughty Dog and widely considered one of the best video games of all time. The game made its way to PC this summer after a much-anticipated port, and now more patches are rolling out to improve the PC port of The Last of Us.
The Last of Us is a post-apocalyptic survival horror game featuring a young girl, Ellie, and her grown-up companion, Joel, who must travel across America to find a cure for the infection that is ravaging the world. With great acting, an engaging story, and stunning visuals, the game quickly gained a cult following and has been ported to many different platforms.
The PC version of The Last of Us was released on July 29th and it has come with a few issues, including graphical glitches and stuttering during gameplay. To address some of these issues, Naughty Dog has rolled out a series of patches for the game. The latest patch, version 1.02, is the third since the game’s release and includes several bug fixes, as well as some improvements to the graphics.
In the patch notes Naughty Dog stated that they have tweaked the game’s rendered resolution to improve performance, as well as “fixed graphical issues related to fog, shadows, post-processing and reflections”. They also addressed the stuttering issue: “We’ve also implemented various solutions to reduce stuttering issues, specifically stutter caused by game rendering system and input latency.”
This patch is a good sign that Naughty Dog is still working on improving the port of The Last of Us to PC. They have stated that they are “continuously testing and trialing solutions to address the technical issues and are actively looking for feedback.” It’s also worth noting that the game’s visuals and performance can be further improved by tweaking the settings; however, some users have reported that the game still runs poorly despite adjustments.
Judging from the patch notes, it’s clear that Naughty Dog is still committed to improving the Last of Us experience on PC. Let’s hope that their efforts will bear fruit and the game will be running optimally soon. For now, it looks like the patches are the best way to make the most out of the experience.
