Mobile gaming isn’t the future of Mario, says his creator

Mobile gaming isn’t the future of Mario, says his creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, the legendary game designer responsible for some of the world’s most beloved video games.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Miyamoto highlighted the importance of traditional gaming systems like the Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and even Nintendo’s classic systems like the NES and SNES. He said that mobile gaming will continue to exist and help people pass the time while they’re on the go or commuting, but it’s not the place where Mario belongs.

He pointed out that mobile games tend to be based on “wave-based” gameplay, where players try to progress level-to-level as quickly as possible. On the other hand, classic Mario games are designed to be more “timeless,” with secrets and secrets scattered throughout each level and a variety of hidden power-ups to uncover.

As Miyamoto stated, “When you think of Mario games, you think of long-term play and enjoyments like secrets, surprises and mastery of all the stages in the game. That’s something that’s not going to change, no matter how our memories evolve with the advances of technology.”

Miyamoto is also the creator of other major franchises in gaming, like The Legend of Zelda and Starfox, so it’s not surprising that he’s eager to maintain the traditional gaming experience for Mario. After all, Mario is one of the most iconic characters in gaming, and Miyamoto wants to make sure that Mario games are enjoyed for generations to come in the same way they have been for generations already.

So, while Mario may show up on your phone every now and then, don’t expect the Mushroom Kingdom to become a regular occurrence. Mobile gaming won’t become the future of Mario, even if the technology of gaming continues to evolve.
