Barnes & Noble is reinventing itself, but not its e-readers

Barnes and Noble has been an institution in the bookstore industry for decades. Recently, however, the company has been struggling to keep up with the competition, especially with Amazon’s dominance in the e-reader market. So, Barnes and Noble has had to look to other means to stay afloat.

The latest strategy by Barnes and Noble has been to reinvent itself, and this has been done in a few key ways. First, the company has shifted away from brick-and-mortar stores, and is instead investing heavily in its online presence. Barnes and Noble now features a robust selection of products on its website, ranging from books to e-readers.

Second, Barnes and Noble has been focused on creating a new generation of e-readers that are much more user-friendly than the standard Kindle or other Amazon e-reader products. Barnes and Noble invested in a new e-reader, the Nook, and is looking to revolutionize the way people read and purchase books. The Nook features a simple design, easy navigation, and features such as being able to sync up with your library of books in the cloud.

Third, Barnes and Noble has been focused on creating a more engaging experience for customers both online and in the store. The Nook has a built-in social media platform, as well as a loyalty program that customers can use to get discounts and special promotions.

Ultimately, Barnes and Noble is trying hard to remain relevant in this digital age. While it is making changes to its physical stores and online presence, it doesn’t seem to be doing much to reinvent its e-readers, which is still a major part of its business. With Amazon’s Kindle dominating the space, it will be interesting to see how Barnes and Noble’s efforts will pay off in the long run.
