For over two decades, Digimon has been a beloved part of the collective consciousness. Its anime and manga have spawned countless movies, TV shows, and merchandise. Now, dedicated fans can finally get their hands on the coveted first Digimon features in their best possible format: Blu-Ray.
Despite being released way back in 1999, Digimon Adventure and its subsequent season has remained a fan-favorite to this day. Starting off as a show featuring a group of kids who get stuck in a digital world and befriend the Digimon they encounter there, the show quickly grew in popularity as it ran for multiple seasons. Until now, however, watching it outside of streaming services has been a near-impossible task.
The good news is that recently, premium home entertainment company Madman Entertainment has announced that both Digimon Adventure movie and the first season of the show will be released on high-definition Blu-Ray format. According to the announcement, the BD discs include the series in 1080p, as well as audio commentaries, interviews, promotional videos, and other never-before-seen content.
Not only will the episodes in the BD edition be presented in their HD glory, but it will also include both English and Japanese audio tracks. This way, viewers can switch between the two at will depending on their preferred viewing experience, and the Blu-Ray discs also offer subtitles for both languages as well.
The Digimon Adventure movies have become a cult classic, and now fans will finally be able to enjoy them the way they were meant to be seen. With the first movie set to be released on July 28th and the first season of the show on Blu-Ray following soon after, Digimon fans are sure to be ecstatic over the news.
