James Wan on M3GAN’s Future, and His Own Future with Blumhouse

As one of the most successful horror directors of this generation, James Wan has seen his career skyrocket after the release of the iconic movie The Conjuring, starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. As his list of credits continues to grow, Wan’s passion for creating unique and memorable horror films has not wavered. His latest release, M3GAN, is a counter-programming horror flick set to hit theaters September 30, 2021.

In a recent interview, Wan discussed the themes M3GAN strives to portray, and how it will differ from his other projects. According to him, this film is aiming to be something deeper than just a run-of-the-mill slasher flick – it’s meant to explore the morality of artificial intelligence and the implications of a robotic uprising. Wan further mentioned the “heart and soul” of M3GAN and his own fascination with bringing to life a character who’s morality is being challenged by the advancing technology.

Wan is also looking forward to what the future has in store, both with M3GAN and with his other projects. He recently teamed up with Blumhouse Productions and plans to continue making horror films. His goal is to push the boundaries even further and create more new horror experiences for audiences.

Moreover, Wan mentioned that he plans to keep a close eye on the kind of horror films his peers are creating and maintain a genuine level of competition. He emphasized the importance of being able to give his own unique perspective and contribution to the world of horror movies and hopes to inspire other directors to be as passionate and creative as he is.

Finally, Wan also revealed that he is currently developing a few more feature films and is also tinkering with a television series. For the moment though, he remains focused on making M3GAN the next great horror classic and cementing his place as one of the most prominent filmmakers of this generation.
