Reddit says it has recovered from some ‘major’ outages

In recent news, social media site Reddit has reported that it has finally recovered from several outages. According to Reddit, the outages were “major” and lasted several hours – a period of time that significantly impacted the user experience.

It began Sunday afternoon when Reddit subscribers noticed that the site was intermittently loading. Later, Reddit posted on their servers that the outages were due to some “major” issues. This was followed by a patchy user experience with some parts of the site working while other pages would not load.

This was not the first time Reddit has experienced outages. In February of 2020, Reddit had another outage that lasted several hours. This time, the cause was a host provider issue. This meant that there were massive outages that spread from Reddit to other sites like Twitch and Discord.

Reddit has reportedly identified the issue from this most recent outage and is working to correct it. According to Reddit’s website, their servers are now back up and running after a few hours of downtime. Reddit has reportedly released a statement apologizing for the inconvenience and thanking their users for their patience.

Reddit’s outages come as the social media site is going through some big changes. Earlier this year, Reddit underwent a makeover to their design as well as added several new features. This included a revised post editor and more moderation tools. The new design was meant to make Reddit easier to use, in addition to ensuring a better user experience.

Despite the recent outages, Reddit is continuing to move in the right direction and users have faith that they will continue to do so. With their new designs and features, the future of Reddit looks bright, though they are still working to identify and address the cause of the major outages.
