The wait is finally over: Star Trek: Prodigy is getting a Blu-ray and DVD release with lots of behind-the-scenes goodies perfect for long-time fans.
The Hollywood Reporter has announced that the animated series, which was introduced earlier this year, will be released on both Blu-ray and DVD with seven 22-minute episodes and over an hour of extra content.
The Blu-ray and DVD versions will feature commentary from executive producer Kevin Hageman and story editor Anica Roman, plus a collection of storyboards detailing all seven episodes. Fans will also get a behind-the-scenes peek at how the series was created, with featurettes on the animation process.
In addition, the home release will include a special feature on the Series’s two main characters, Tilly and Lily. The two young Vulcans were created to be ambassadors of the Federation and represent the importance of diversity and optimism.
In the featurette, the crew offers some insight into the creation of the characters. Actors Jaira Burns and Kayla Cromer discuss their roles in bringing the characters to life, with support from the show’s writers, producers, and directors. The featurette is rounded out by interviews with the cast, who reveal some of their favorite moments from the series.
The Blu-ray and DVD release of Star Trek: Prodigy will also include deleted and extended scenes, plus a gag reel. The whole set is a great look behind the scenes at the hit series.
Star Trek: Prodigy will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on June 1, 2021. Don’t miss out on this must-have home release for Trekkers.
