Microsoft rarely attends Gamescom, the world’s largest gaming convention, but this year it’s making a splash by showing off two of its big upcoming titles— Starfield and Forza—although gamers won’t get to actually play them.
The announcement came as part of Microsoft’s Xbox 20/20 series, an ongoing series of monthly announcements dedicated to showing off the latest and greatest Xbox news. Microsoft revealed that its Xbox showcase at Gamescom will feature these two games, giving fans their first look at what the two titles look and feel like.
However, while the showcase will feature new footage of both games, neither title will be playable. That news may come as a disappointment to those hoping to get their hands on the two titles, but it does suggest that Microsoft will have something else up its sleeve for the show. According to Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, Microsoft has a lot more in store and fans won’t want to miss it.
Microsoft could use Gamescom as a platform to reveal more information about its upcoming titles, such as a release date, gameplay details, and more. Even still, it remains to be seen if Microsoft will actually pull the trigger and give us a playable version of either game.
Starfield and Forza have generated a lot of buzz in the gaming community, and fans are eager to get their hands on these two upcoming titles. Unfortunately, Microsoft’s decision to not make the two available for players may be a bit of a letdown, but it could also be a sign of things to come in the future.
