KQED, a major public media organization in California, recently announced that it has acquired Spoke Media, the studio behind Glynn Washington’s popular storytelling show, Snap Judgment.
The move is a major step forward for KQED, which is dedicated to creating and curating engaging content to inform and entertain audiences around the world. Spoke Media is the production company behind Snap Judgment, hosted by Glynn Washington, a critically acclaimed show which debuted in 2010 and has since grown to be one of the most popular podcasts in the United States.
The acquisition of Spoke Media by KQED means that the public broadcaster will be able to extend its popular programming beyond traditional broadcast media. Through the acquisition, KQED will now have access to Spoke Media’s library of existing works, as well as future productions that KQED can develop.
KQED, which is based in San Francisco, has been producing award-winning content in the form of television programs, films, podcasts, multimedia products and websites for more than 50 years. It has been dedicated to providing quality content to the public, including its popular public radio programs such as Forum and The California Report.
The acquisition of Spoke Media will only add to KQED’s already impressive collection of content, not just on the public radio side, but also on the audio and podcasting side.
Glynn Washington’s Snap Judgment will continue to be produced by Spoke Media, and KQED looks forward to working closely with Washington and the Snap Judgment team to continue bringing stories to life in an engaging and entertaining way.
The acquisition of Spoke Media by KQED is a win-win for both organizations, as the public broadcaster gains access to Spoke Media’s unique library of content and can expand its reach beyond its traditional broadcast media. KQED also looks forward to further developing its audio and podcasting presence, and the addition of Spoke Media will certainly help to make that happen.
