In recent years, it has become increasingly common for Hollywood to revive classic characters and franchises for new audiences. The latest example of this trend is the forthcoming remake of the 1970s Marvel comic book “Werewolf By Night”.
Sources report that acclaimed composer Michael Giacchino has signed on to score the remake. Giacchino is known for his work on films such as “Ratatouille”, “Jurassic World”, “Star Trek” and “Doctor Strange”, as well as TV series such as “Lost” and “Alias”. His previous work on comic book-based material includes his loveable and comical score for the LEGO Batman Movie.
The plot of the considered remake will be largely similar to that of the original, following the story of ‘Jack Russell’, who is cursed with lycanthropy (the ability to transform into a werewolf). The remake is set to include many of the classic elements seen in the original comic but will also introduce new characters and plot twists. Additionally, director Boris Damast has promised that the reboot will be much darker than the original source material.
With Giacchino at the helm of the musical elements of this film and the promise of a more serious, horror-inspired approach to the traditionally horror-lite material, there is much reason to be excited for the remake of Werewolf By Night. Giacchino’s previous work has shown his ability to create a powerful and emotive score and his contribution to this project could be the perfect way to give us a horror-tone without losing the charm of the original comic.
It is sure to be an interesting project and we can’t wait to see Giacchino’s take on the classic werewolf tale. With this high-profile team on board and the anticipated darker more horror-based approach, fans of the original comic book can look forward to a unique and exciting adaptation of Werewolf By Night.
