Meta’s avatar legs roll out to beta testers, but only in Quest Home

Since VR arrived on the market, users hopped into full-bodied fantasies with the feeling tech, such as hand and body tracking. Even so, there’s one missing link – your legs.

For most people, it is natural to take things one step further and give users the ability to move and walk around their virtual environment. Meta has taken this concept a bit further by releasing their own set of avatar legs.

The new Meta Avatar Legs are an add-on to the Meta 2 headset, and they allow you to move around with realistic motion. The product is currently available in beta form to some of Meta’s Quest Home testers.

The Meta 2 headset provides natural interactions with virtual objects, allowing you to pick up and move them, as well as sense and interact with the environment. With the addition of the Meta Avatar Legs, the experience is even more immersive as the user will be able to move around in the virtual environment with a sense of presence.

The Meta Avatar Legs feature patent-pending balance and motion capture to provide an accurate representation of your foot placement and body orientation. This allows for more natural movements, which will make the experience of being in the virtual world even more lifelike.

The legs also provide force feedback, meaning you can feel the texture of the ground. This helps you become more aware of the environment and gives you a greater sense of presence.

The company is currently testing the Meta Avatar Legs on Quest Home, the comprehensive virtual reality social platform developed by Meta, which enables you to meet friends, explore virtual worlds, and collaborate on creative projects.

The Meta Avatar Legs are a great addition to the immersive environment of Meta’s Quest Home, and they will only get better as they continue to be tested and improved. This could be a great step towards true virtual reality immersion for users.
