Avatar: The Last Airbender fans were delighted when it was announced that a new comic series was in the works. It’s been almost a decade since the last installment of the immensely popular franchise, and many of its avid followers are eagerly awaiting its return in the form of a four-part comic. The first part of the comic series will be released in March, and it won’t be focused on Avatar Aang as usual. Instead, it will revolve around one of the franchise’s biggest and most exciting villains – Azula.
Azula is the daughter of tyrannical Fire Lord Ozai and malicious master of lightning-bending. Her ferocity and complexity have made her one of the most compelling characters in the entire series, and we’re thrilled to see her back in the spotlight. The comic series will focus on Azula’s “journey of redemption,” as she attempts to “do something good for a change.” It’s hard to imagine a character that has been as universally reviled as Azula having a chance at redemption, but Avatar fans are always up for a good challenge.
It is exciting to think of the potential storylines that could be explored in the comic series. Will Azula be forgiving of those who have wronged her in the past? Will she be able to set aside her ambition and egocentrism and devote herself to doing good? How will she be received by her enemies and by Fire Lord Zuko, the son of Ozai, who is the current Fire Lord? It is the latter half of these questions that will likely generate the most interest.
Avatar’s fans are sure to enjoy seeing the return of Azula. Her character has been sorely missed and her appearance in the comic’s next installment promises to be captivating. She deserves the spotlight, and we can’t wait to find out what new adventure she’ll be embarking on next.
