Spotify debuts ‘Niche Mixes’ you can build based on description alone

The popular streaming service, Spotify, recently debuted a new feature called ‘Niche Mixes’ aimed at providing users with a personalized way to find the right music. ‘Niche Mixes’ allow users to create mixes of music that they may otherwise not listen to simply by selecting genres and topics based on their description.

The idea behind ‘Niche Mixes’ is that users can build their own musical experience by selecting different categories and settings based off of what they are searching for. When users look up a topic, they are given a wide array of choices such as “romantic”, “moody”, or “groovy”. They can then pick up to five of those topics and select a preferred tempo and genre to further tailor the mix.

Spotify has put an emphasis on music discovery when it comes to ‘Niche Mixes’. It allows users to explore different genres and styles without having to listen to entire songs. As such, the mixes are created using a mixture of both music that the user is familiar with and music that is totally new.

Along with ‘Niche Mixes’, Spotify has also released a few additional features such as the ability to tag a mix, a shuffle button, and the ability to preview a mix before listening to it. These features all add to the personalization of the experience and help users get the most out of their ‘Niche Mixes’.

Overall, ‘Niche Mixes’ by Spotify is a great way for users to discover new music and explore different genres. With its customizable settings, users can create their own personalized mixes and find the right music for any occasion. It definitely looks to be an exciting new addition to Spotify and one that users will no doubt be taking full advantage of.
