Star Wars spinoff The Acolyte hits Disney Plus in 2024

Disney Plus just dropped major news this week. The streaming service announced that a new Star Wars spinoff show titled The Acolyte will appear on their platform in 2024, adding to the long list of projects that are in the works for the hugely popular franchise.

The Acolyte, which is set in the timeline of the Skywalker saga, follows a mysterious newcomer who is searching for secrets and uncovering secrets that could potentially change the fate of the galaxy. Disney revealed that the show will take viewers to a time of increasing conflict between the First Order and the Resistance, with a glimpse of a dark, broken past that could have changed everything.

The show, written and executive produced by Leslye Headland (Russian Doll, Bachelorette), will be part of the upcoming lineup of Star Wars shows Disney Plus is working on, which includes The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, Rangers of the New Republic, and Andor.

The Acolyte is being produced by Lucasfilm, with President Kathleen Kennedy saying “The Acolyte will be a thrilling addition to the Star Wars universe and I’m excited for fans to explore this mysterious and unexpected world.”

No other details were released about the show and its characters, but it’s sure to be a hit when The Acolyte does arrive in 2024. In the meantime, fans can binge through Disney’s ever-growing library of incredible Star Wars content.
