Phone manufacturers: please give us the power button back

In recent years, smartphone manufacturers have been abandoning traditional methods of smartphone operation, such as physical buttons. As a result, users have been living in a world of hard-to-find power buttons and awkward gesture controls. We understand that phone manufacturers are pushing us towards a more seamless, intuitive user experience, but we need the hard power button back.

Although the power button has long been a symbol of convenience, it has recently been replaced with various touch button solutions that offer inconsistent experiences. For some, this means simply long-pressing the volume down button to shut off the phone. For others, access requires a tortuous path of swiping and menu-opening which can leave most users scratching their heads.

This is why we are calling for phone manufacturers to bring the power button back. This will not only provide a consistent user experience, but also make it easier to turn phones off or on in situations that require it. This can be especially true in emergencies, where quickly cutting off the power can be a life-saving measure.

Furthermore, the extra physical feedback that a hard power button provides users can be invaluable. Having a dedicated physical button on the side of the phone that you can feel and press allows for a more natural way to interact with your device. This can be especially welcome for those who want to use their phones one-handed.

We understand that phone manufacturers are trying to innovate and modernize the way we use our smartphones. However, the hard power button is still too valuable to take for granted. As users, we want consistency and convenience when it comes to how we power our phones on and off. We want the trusty power button back on our phones!
