The Fitbit-to-Google account migration is set to start this summer, with the development of a tool to help in the transfer process for Fitbit owners. The new migration tool follows Google’s acquisition of the fitness tracking company in November last year.
Under the new system, Fitbit users will be able to register with their email and begin the transfer of their profile, including workout history and data. Once the user is confirmed, the data will be moved to the user’s Google account under a new Fitbit tab.
The migration tool is seen as an effort from Google to make the transition from Fitbit’s platform to its own much smoother. With the Fitbit-to-Google migration, users can also access the brand’s newest fitness apps and devices.
In addition to the migration process, Google has also started rolling out other Fitbit-branded products such as watches, tracking apps and data analysis tools. These tools will help users to gain insight into their health habits, alongside other related services, such as step counting, heart rate monitoring and sleep tracking.
The company also announced new partnerships with mobile apps and health experts. Fitbit’s device integration with the Google Fit app is expected to provide a more comprehensive experience while monitoring daily activity. This will allow the app to recommend improvements to the user’s workout regime, based on the data it records.
Furthermore, the Fitbit-to-Google account migration will also enable users to access Google’s store for a range of health and wellness products, including breath and posture analysis as well as breathing rate tracking.
The Fitbit-to-Google account migration tool is due to be released this summer, giving Fitbit users a chance to take advantage of Google’s new products and services. In the meantime, users who want to stay connected to Fitbit’s community can access their profile, albeit with a slightly different UI, on the Google Fit website.
