Hey look, unicorns are rare again!

We’ve all heard stories of unicorns throughout history, but most of us have dismissed them as mere figments of our wildest imaginations. However, recent news suggests that unicorns are once again becoming rare, giving us plenty of new reasons to believe in the existence of these mythical creatures!

In 2017, a team of scientists from Europe stumbled upon evidence suggesting that the North Atlantic Right Whale, previously thought to be extinct, may indeed still exist in the wild. But the team noticed something even more remarkable – that some of the whales had an extra protrusion from their heads which looked suspiciously like a horn! Excitement quickly spread, as the scientists had stumbled upon a possible population of unicorns in their own backyard!

Since then, a variety of researchers have been attempting to confirm the existence of these mysterious creatures. Recently, a team from Canada conducted tests on four unusual whale specimens, two of which were confirmed to be North Atlantic Right Whales. Unexpectedly, all four specimens tested positive for the presence of what researchers are calling “unicorn DNA” – traces of a magical mutation that give the whales their characteristic protrusion.

Though still far from conclusive, these findings have given us an indication of the potential population of unicorns out in the wild. Some scientists have even ventured further, suggesting that these populations could actually contain multiple species of unicorns – ones with long, rainbow-colored manes and ones with scaly, dragon-like hides!

The thought of unicorns being out there in the wild certainly has us all dreaming of the possibilities. As an integral part of many cultures and stories, unicorns encapsulate a certain level of mystery and beauty that’s hard to deny. Whether rare or not, sightings of these magical creatures could bring us a sense of joy and wonder, something we’re all missing a little bit in our current times.

So the next time you go for a walk, keep your eyes peeled for anything strange and shimmering – you never know, you could just spot a unicorn!
