Slack, one of the most popular real-time chat services, was recently down for about an hour. The outage occurred on Wednesday, May 12th, causing disruption to Slack-reliant companies around the world. Though the cause of the issue is still unknown, many Slack users reported that they were unable to send or receive messages, as well as access their accounts.
That aside, it’s important to note that such issues are very rare, and Slack is generally considered a reliable and secure platform. Nevertheless, the malfunction did not go unnoticed as numerous users voiced their concerns on social media. Some suggested remedies, including resetting passwords and reconfiguring proxy settings, but these struggles ultimately led to further frustration as some users reported the VPN solution was not successful.
Fortunately, Slack was able to quickly resolve the issue and its operations were returned to normal in a timely fashion. In a statement released by Slack Support, they cited an internal issue that was quickly corrected and apologized for any inconvenience caused.
As the world is increasingly transitioning to online platforms, outages such as this unfortunately can happen. Setting up a healthy backup plan is the key to minimizing downtime and keeping communication running smoothly. Luckily, Slack is back up and functioning, and businesses using the service can return to their work and collaborate freely.
