Leaked images reveal Lenovo’s Steam Deck competitor with a hint of the Switch

With the launch of the Nintendo Switch in 2017, it has since changed the standards of portable gaming; offering a console with gaming control capabilities in a handheld form factor. Now, with rumors of a competitor in the market, leaked images of Lenovo’s ‘Steam Deck’ have surfaced on the internet.

Lenovo’s Steam Deck is an Android-powered gaming device. Reportedly, the device runs its own operating system but also allows for access to the Google Play Store, making it a great option for gamers who want to play both retail and mobile-based titles. Based on the leaked images, it appears that the device has two detachable controllers as well as a dock for the device which is able to connect it to the television.

The design of the Steam Deck seems to mimic Nintendo’s Switch with its general design and layout. However, the Steam Deck does not allow for access to Nintendo’s platform. Instead, the device appears to focus on Google’s Android gaming experiences.

Unlike the Switch which is powered by Tegra chipsets from NVIDIA, Lenovo’s Steam Deck is reportedly powered by Qualcomm chipsets. Additionally, the device has been said to come equipped with various features such as dual-band WiFI, Bluetooth 5.0, and storage options.

The existence of the Steam Deck has yet to be officially confirmed by Lenovo. The company has not confirmed or denied the leaked images, the specs, nor the official price or release date for the device. All of this information is still speculation at this time.

That being said, the Steam Deck could turn out to be Lenovo’s answer to the Nintendo Switch if the images are accurate and the specs turn out to be true. It is clear that Lenovo is looking to capitalize on the success of the Switch.

Lenovo’s Steam Deck could be an interesting addition to the gaming market, providing an option that would cater to Android gamers who might be looking for a console experience. Once the Steam Deck has been officially announced, we will be able to find out more about Lenovo’s Switch competitor.
